Keith the Critic Movie Reviews - Blade Runner 2049

Keith the Critic gives us a review to one of the most highly anticipated films of the decade.  "Blade Runner 2049.

In this sequel it is the year 2049 and old replicants of humans are being hunted down by the current replicants. The newer models are created to always follow orders. Ryan Gosling plays Blade Runner K whose job is to find any remaining replicants from the old regime.

After killing a replicant who has turned to farming, a box is discovered buried under a tree containing the skeletal remains of a female replicant. After the bones are analyzed, it's discovered that her cause of death was complications from a caesarian delivery. Since it was thought that replicants could not have children, K is told to destroy any evidence and to find the child and kill him or her. In the process, K learns that the child's father is former Blade Runner Rick Deckard, who is again played by Harrison Ford. K must discover the identity of the child and understand the story behind it.

I loved the original Blade Runner directed by Ridley Scott. This one is directed by Denis Villeneuve and is just as good. He has proved to be an excellent director. Ryan Gosling was terrific, as he always is, and so was Harrison Ford who still hasn't slowed down. The scenes between the two were fantastic. I loved the story line of Deckard living in what is left of Vegas in 2049 with his dog. The special effects were spectacular making me enjoy the movie even more.

I urge every sci-fi lover to see this film. I'm giving it 4 out of 4 stars. You don't have to see the first movie to follow along.
