Notes and Nerds Con Review - Sausomecon 2018

Sausomecon 2018 has come, and it has gone...but obviously not for good.  They'll be back next year.  Don't worry.  Scared ya, didn't I.  Sorry.

Sausomecon is an up and coming Anime Convention held in Kansas City at the KCI Expo Center.  An event that celebrates all things anime.  What kind of stuff can you expect at Sausomecon though?  Well, there are the usual attractions, such as a gaming room, vendors, and guests.  Guests that include voice actors from popular anime's, and cosplay guests from the region.  They also have a "library" where you can go in and read your favorite manga and graphic novels.  There is also panels to sit in that cover everything from cosplay to celebrity guest panels.

As a newbie to the anime convention scene, I was a bit out of my element.  I haven't watched a proper anime since the 90's and early 2000's.  However, I had a little help with knowing what was what with Adrian.  He helped bring me into the element.

One thing that I felt that some con goer may want to take into account with these types of events is the age gap.  Sausomecon was definitely geared at a younger audience.  It was a friendly environment for teenagers to young adults.  Now this isn't meant as a deterrent for older anime lovers.  This is an observation to help those looking for a safe environment to take younger con enthusiasts to.

Being a newer convention, one thing that you may have noticed if you attended was that there was a lot of open floor space.  This is pretty common with cons this young, and that focus on a particular niche audience.  However, the convention is always open to suggestions and recommendations to help make it better.  A con that listens to its audiences?  Awesome Sauce!

Overall, this is an event that you will enjoy, especially as an anime fan.
